Pod of Drawers, 1987.
I created this piece by hand in London while I was working for a model maker in Herne Hill, replicating full size Middle Eastern minarets. This is where all the materials were procured, somewhat illicitly.
The mould was made in a makeshift tent behind the flat I was living in on the Fulham road, having to dry the fibreglass with hairdryers because of the winter conditions. The first piece was shown in London and then Tokyo, after which the mould was shipped back to Sydne…
